Michael Capponi’s Project with the Miami Rescue Mission

Entrepreneur and developer Michael Capponi oversees the Capponi Group, a collection of companies focused on luxury construction and philanthropy. Recently, Capponi brought together his Capponi Construction Group with Miami Rescue Mission in partnership on a project that will improve opportunities for persons in need throughout the city.

Covered by the Miami Herald at the end of 2012, the venture will enhance the facilities available to the 90-year-old nonprofit mission. With Capponi’s assistance, Miami Rescue Mission will expand its homeless shelter at 2020 N.W. First Avenue by renovating a warehouse and former music studio located directly behind the current structure. Designed by architect Kobi Karp, the altered building will feature 78 new beds, private lockers, study lounges, and services of various kinds. Meant for those involved with Miami Rescue Mission’s transitional program, the new structure will also contain a kitchen area, a computer room, and a general meeting area.

Founded in 1922, Miami Rescue Mission possesses locations in Miami, Hollywood, and Pompano. Thousands of people benefit from its offerings, including women and children. It also conducts job training, rehabilitation, and mental health programs. Engaged with the group for several years, Michael Capponi previously supported the charity’s health clinic and Thanksgiving Day banquet, among other initiatives.
